Dragons Widget Baseball Scores 5 Runs in Extra Innings to Advance to the Semifinals

SPPS Widget Dragons Baseball defeated Frassati Catholic Academy 10-5 in extra innings on Friday to advance to the CSAL Widget Baseball American Division Semifinals.

The Dragons got on the board in the top of the first inning after Axton S tripled to left field, and Joshua M grounded out, each scoring one run.

A single by Jimmy H extended the SPPS Widget Dragons Baseball lead to 3-1 in the top of the second inning.

The Dragons added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Axton S singled to center field, and Joshua M grounded out, each scoring one run.

Frassati Catholic Academy tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth to send the game into extra innings.

The Dragons then flipped the game on its head in extra innings, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 10-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to right field by Anthony G that drove in two.

Anthony G started on the mound for SPPS Widget Dragons Baseball. The hurler gave up two hits and one run over two innings, striking out five. Nicholas H appeared in relief for the Dragons, and Alejandro P closed the game out with 2 strikeouts to secure the win for the Dragons.

The Dragons accumulated 10 hits in the game. Joshua M provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led SPPS with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Axton S and Anthony G each collected three hits. Jimmy H collected two hits in three at bats.

The Widget Dragons will face Good Shepherd (3rd) next in a semifinals matchup on Tuesday, May 13, for a shot to play in the CSAL Widget Baseball American Division Championship.
